But we don't live in a perfect world. Hell, I'm not sure if a semblance of my aforementioned future wife will ever exist in my generation. My generation is a bit confused about gender roles and are making them up as we go. Our grandparents marked the end of an age when a woman's sole duty was to take care of the household while the man worked. Our parents were the first generation that had to deal with the changing gender roles. A friend of my dad's once said "my wife better have her ass back home by one a.m.cuz a woman ain't got no business in the streets at all times of night." Initially, I thought he was concerned for her safety but his follow up comment, "that's what men do" and "she can only be up to one thing" made things clear. Then I thought well, hell, all of you guys (my dad's friends) are out all times of night with one another and ya'll ain't doing shit so what makes you think differently of her.
When I started dating Korean women (from Korean culture) I was in for a bit of culture shock. While Western women still want a man to take charge, they generally liked to have input on final decisions. That wasn't the case with Korean women. Everything fell in the man's domain....EVERYTHING! My Korean friends would always tell me that Korean women are the best. What, the best at being indentured servants or the best at letting your silly ass do what you want? The culture in which my grandparents were born into is alive and well in Korea. For example, I could stay out until five in the morning and come home with no questioned asked save how my night was. This type of behavior can only fly for so long with a Western woman. The feel in Korea is that boys will be boys.
On the other hand, if I play XBOX for too long I will undoubtedly be in the dog house. According to my mom, if your man is taking care of business and not in the streets he should be allowed to play his fucking XBOX. I suppose that if you let a man come home at the crack of dawn he had better give you some attention while he's there. What frustrated me the most about dating Korean women was that Korean women never tell you that they don't like something until "shit hits the fan" so to speak. How was I to know that she was yelling at me because she hated my cologne and not because I was being a chauvinistic bastard?!
Not a bad class to take |
The one thing that I haven't been able to grasp is why Korean women reveal very little of their own opinions. I find it highly difficult to be in a relationship with a woman that has no opinions or theories about anything. ANYTHING! Someday I will be a university professor and more than a few Korean women have given me ample practice at lecturing. But this is not the way a relationship should be. I was under the illusion that relationships are also about the sharing of ideas. Who wants an automaton? Some men may ask, "WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU COMPLAINING?" Honestly, I don't know. I figure that it has something to do with my upbringing that won't allow me to dominate a relationship. I know that I can be feeble minded and can do things without foreseeing the the possibilities and likely outcomes. Hell, I need a woman that will say "sit your silly ass down somewhere! That won't work and let me tell you why sugar foot!"
I have a theory about Korean women. I've noticed that Western women are free spirited when they are young and as they get older they become a sweet old ladies. Korean women are the polar opposite with the exception that they don't become old lady. They become aujumas. Which is a completely different sex from both male and female. Aujumas are old women (if you can call them such) that are rarely nice and will mow your ass down for a seat on the subway. Aujumas will rip you apart with their bare hands while at a ninety degree angle. Aujumas are not to be fucked with! How did they get that way? Oh pick me...pick meeeeee
The majority of Korean women I've dated fit this profile with the exception being one.
You gotta love old people, after a certain age they can do whatever the hell they want cause they old. I just finished a post on dating although its a totally different cause its about accepting peoples imperfections.Hopefully you'll read but it has to be pushed back so I can write about racism due to your thread that got me all riled up.
